All kitchens should be designed with the Kitchen Work Triangle in mind. The effective “work triangle” includes 3 key parts – the refrigerator, the oven, and the sink / dishwasher. All three elements should be within somewhat in a triangle shape and within unobstructed reach of each other to allow the most efficient food prep possible.
